Something Old, Something New
This slice of Havelock North history came from the recently demolished Lavender Cottage. Lavender Cottage has been a landmark in Havelock North for a long time, sited on the roundabout at the entrance to the village. It looked every bit the run down spooky house. Unfortunately or not depending on your outlook, it has been demolished to make way for a MacDonalds. We spotted the free firewood sign there one day and grabbed ourselves some interesting bits and pieces. One of which has been converted into this characterful peg rail.

Winter colour inspiration from our garden
All over out garden there are daisies flowering. I have printed some in a wintry blue on a lovely piece of reclaimed fabric.
Green dots inspired by limes, printed on a beautiful old linen table runner. Then on to a beautiful print using a couple printing blocks from India on a really lovely organic cotton chambray. You can see these two items for sale over here.

Side Tracked
The way things were meant to work was - I did some drawings and Peter converted them into the printing blocks. I should have known that the carefully thought out list of blocks I was waiting for would soon be derailed. It sort of happened a bit like this. "Have you got any of my printing blocks ready today?" I innocently asked. "Well, " said Peter. Alarm bells started to sound in my head. "I found some really cool Gingo leaves on the way home. I thought they would make great blocks. So I did one." "Hmm...." said I. I could not argue really, because it did make an excellent printing block.
Then printed the leaves on a beautiful piece of recycled cotton. The name of the fabric is Autumn Ginko in the Side Tracked series. I am sure you can guess why the series name came about and I am sure there will be a lot more successful designs to look forward to in the Side Tracked series.
